Modern machinery increasingly relies on software, digital communication, configurable components, and connected infrastructure. Corruption of data, software, communication channels, or machine configurations can adversely affect safety-related functions and lead to hazardous situations.

EN 50742 provides a structured methodology to identify such risks and define measures that help ensure machinery safety is maintained. The training explains the practical application of EN 50742 and its role in supporting compliance with the EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.

Current Status of EN 50742 & Harmonisation: EN 50742 is currently being finalized as a key European standard addressing protection against corruption of safety-related machinery in support of the EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.

It is currently in draft stage (prEN 50742) and harmonisation is not yet completed. It is expected to provide presumption of conformity with relevant requirements of the EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.

Early adoption of EN 50742 enables manufacturers to prepare for the 2027 regulatory application.
